Water Sensations® - Clear Liquid Flavor Enhancer for Water, Flavored Water, Flavored Bottled Water, Water Flavoring, Flavor Packets for Water

Several readers messaged me after I wrote about the new Crystal Light on the Go flavor packets that you pour in bottled water. I complained about the price, which was 33 cents per serving when I wrote the review. Since then I’ve seen the product selling for 25 cents per serving.

The readers advised me to check out the Wal-Mart version of the water flavorings. I found the Great Value brand of Lemonade and Raspberry Ice drink mixes for $1.76. Each box contains 10 flavor packets; the price per serving is 18 cents. That’s definitely a better price, but I’m sad to say I don’t like the flavor as much as the Crystal Light. I detected an unpleasant sugar alcohol aftertaste. Also, the mix didn’t dissolve quickly. I had to shake my water bottles like a woman possessed before the lumpy clumps would go away. I do have good news, though. In Connecticut there is a company called Water Sensations® that is making liquid flavorings for water bottles. Right now the new product is available only in the northeast and mid-Atlantic states, but hopefully it’ll soon come to your store.

Not only do the liquid flavorings taste great - we enjoyed Lemon, Strawberry-Kiwi, Grape, Peach, Orange and Mixed Berry - they also are less messy than the powders and dissolve much easier. A box of 16 packets costs $3.99, making the price per serving 25 cents. The nutrition information for the Great Value brand and the Water Sensations is the same: all zeroes. And finally, one reader said she puts Sugar-Free Kool-Aid in her water bottles. It doesn’t come in the portion-size packets, but she says the price savings and the great taste is worth the extra time it takes to get the powder in the bottle.
